How Ya Doin’?

The title is not my question to you in particular so much as how you’re feeling about life in this period of history. I can rightly assume that most who come here are younger than me and salutations to you. Youth is wonderful and once you’ve reached my age fifty seems young. How would I like to go back and be fifty again? Not now. Were I in my seventies in the 1960s I would probably say I would give most anything to be fifty again. Not now. It’s relative, you see. Relative not to time but to the state of our world. Since 9/11 this world has been sliding downward. I saw it happening then and you are feeling it now. It’s all relative to age. It’s all relative to the human cycles. War, then peace,. Peace, then war.

In between we’re lucky if we don’t have some natural disaster that takes, say, the state of California, dropping the entire state into the Pacific Ocean. That would make 9/11 seem like a walk in the park. Could happen. Probably won’t. You see, though, that we are in a time which is out of sync. A time in which some variable has been set loose that cannot be accounted for. Were we calculating an algebra problem we would be searching for the value of “x.” What is “x’s relationship to the square root of 3.76?

If we were looking at this as a Biblical prophecy we would be looking at the book of Revelations where it says that Satan will be loosed upon the world after being thrown out from Heaven. To wreak havoc upon our world due to the fact that so many have forsaken their faith in God. Myth? No, I really don’t think it is though I did at a time way back when. I did a term paper on the Book of Revelations in college. A course called, “The Bible as Literature,” in which we studied the literary value of the prose in the Bible. It is remarkably well written. Remarkably well. Read Psalms to get a hint of how good the Bible is written.

Are we approaching the end? That is also relative so we have to look at the variables. Some variables that are overlooked are World War One, World War Two and the resultant factor of the second war: thermonuclear weapons. World ending weapons. Then the question arises, will God let us end His planet? Then it comes down to belief systems does it not? If you believe in this world then God has nothing to do with life. If you believe, as I do, in the Bible then you know that life has everything to do with God. Then the Bible rather holds sway over mankind’s governments and belief systems which are worldly.

Then again, I am an old man set in my ways. We all know that old men are mentally vacant and in need of rest homes. Or, are old men set free from lust and carousing so that they can get down to the meat of what life is about and the reality of God? That is for you to decide, one would suppose. For myself, I have believed in God since around the age of eight. In the decades that followed and as I read and understood the Bible my faith deepened and the truth I found in the words of the Bible became much more clear, decade upon decade. We are at a crux now and this is why I take time I probably don’t have to relate my love of God, His Son, and all that the Earth was meant to be to us here. We are a long way from the Garden my friends. Lost in the wilderness. We behave this way due to our loss of an anchor point. What is that anchor point? Is it mankind or is it not of mankind? Be thoughtful.
