Despite the world and all that it holds dear there is only one thing to achieve, eternity. This is what the Bible is for, despite its harshest critics. The Bible, and Jesus in particular, says to “be no part of the world.” But how is this achieved? After all, we deal with the world each hour of each day and derive sustenance from doing what the world tells us to do.
The “world,” as defined by the Bible, is the construct of mankind since the Garden of Eden. Nations and governments of all types. Remember that we were all cast out of the Garden and whether you take that figuratively or literally it is still a fact. Facts are substantive things and facts are what make sense if one can only shed the chains of slavery to the world.
This world of mankind is not the world God intended and that is what this coming change is all about. Why has it taken so long? Only God fully understands this and that should be good enough for us. It isn’t for many and these are the ones that need to slow down and take full measure of how they think. A brief and cursory look into the universe available for us to see is sometimes all it takes to quiet the world and assess our situation. How very small and helpless we all are if only we take full measure of our circumstance here on this planet.
There is a reason that we can see the night sky. It is a measuring stick given us, lovingly, by God so that we can take full measure of who and where we are. And see how wonderful is His majesty and creative abilities. A lesson I learned at a very young age and never once forgot.
